10 Ways To Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant

We did not plan on our first child, as we were pretty young and not married at the time. But he has been such a blessing to us! It was so easy for us to get pregnant with our first child, that I wasn’t worried about trying to get pregnant with our second!

Our second baby just turned 1, but getting pregnant with him took about a year! I’m here to share with you what worked for me to finally get pregnant the second time around.


10. Drink WATER
Drink half your body weight in ounces of water a day! This in reality, is what we are suppose to drink everyday even when not trying to conceive. This also helps your body get ready for baby to retain the fluid that surrounds him.

9. Eat Healthy
This gives your body the more nutrients you need to properly function and store the vitamins from foods to naturally give to you & your baby. Think organic fruits, veggies, and meat.

8. Exercise
Moderately exercise, to stay healthy. I know some women continue lifting weights or continue intense cardio. That works for some. But I suggest continue what you are doing to remain active or to just go on a walk for 30 mins 5x a week.

7. Don’t Stress 
Stress is super common to be the cause of miscarriage. Don’t stress yourself out with trying to get pregnant. Relax! Getting pregnant is the fun part! I know it can be hard when you feel you’ve been trying for so long, but don’t be so hard on yourself. So many people say the minute we stopped “trying” to get pregnant, I became pregnant. Try different ways and keep it fun, stressing isn’t good for you or the baby.

6. Start Prenatal Vitamins
The minute you get pregnant, you need them for baby and you, so you mine as well start before anyway. Plus the vitamins add to making sure your body is healthy and in a good state for a baby. The nutrients will already be there and ready for baby. Prenatal’s are a great multivitamin, you don’t have to be pregnant to take them.

5. Track Your Basal Body Temperature
I don’t even know how someone figured out BBT, but so many people use this for family planning! You can buy a basal thermometer and take your temperature every morning as soon as you wake up, before you even get out of bed. When you are ovulating there will be a slight increase in temperature. Write down your temperature everyday, this will really help you figure out what exact day you are ovulating to see when you can get pregnant. Try and make sure to have sex that day when you see that slight increase of temperature.

4. Buy Ovulation Tests
Their is a science to ovulating! I don’t completely understand it myself, but these ovulation tests seriously help! Ovulation usually happens half way through your cycle. So if your cycle is 28 days, expect to be ovulating around your 14th day. Use the ovulation tests around the time you think you could be ovulating.

3. Have Sex When Ovulating Every Other Day
By waiting every other day, this gives your partner time to build up more sperm that is more likely to produce a baby. Try different positions!

2. Eat MORE Meat
For the majority of the one year we were trying to get pregnant, I was a vegetarian. About one month before I became pregnant, I began eating meat again because I noticed I was really tired a lot of the time. Sometimes your body is really missing certain nutrients that can block your body from producing a baby, because maybe your baby wouldn’t be able to thrive. When you eat meat, just try to make sure you eat all natural without added hormones or even better USDA Organic meat.

1. Take MACA
This vitamin helps regulate your cycle and is said for reproductive health. I took this vitamin for 1 month, before I was FINALLY pregnant. I used the Maca Now Foods brand. Sorry if this is TMI, but my period really was pretty regular and only lasted 4-5 days and towards the end pretty light. I never had a crazy heavy cycle, like some women have to go through. So I wasn’t really sure I needed to regulate my cycle, but after reading Amazon reviews, many women were saying it helped them get pregnant. At this point I was so desperate for something to help, so I bought it. I really think this vitamin is what helped the MOST. In one months time I was pregnant with our sweet baby boy Landon. I strongly recommend taking this, if it is okay with your doctor.

A few more suggestions…

This may seem odd, but do positions where the semen is less likely to come out, such as missionary or so on.

Try to refrain from going to the bathroom for awhile after having intercourse.

And last but not least try to lay there after intercourse, don’t get up immediately.


All of these ways combined I think really helped us get pregnant with our second child. I am not a doctor, so always consult your doctor before taking vitamins with certain medications or speak with them about exercising while trying to conceive.
